The first reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for January 16, 2025, according to authoritative insider NateDrake.
Sources claim that this Thursday will be the only time the console will be presented – some games running on it may appear in the trailer, but they will not be discussed separately for now. In fact, Nintendo presented the first Switch with a similar video in the fall of 2016. Three months later, a full presentation followed.
Nate the Hate suggests that the Switch 2 could be released in May or June of this year — which matches up with other sources — and that a new version of Mario Kart could be available at launch, with 3D Mario set to release in holiday 2025. Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Assassin’s Creed Mirage are expected to be released for the new console.
The Switch 2 has been the subject of a flurry of leaks this month, mostly from CES 2025. It’s said to support 256GB and 512GB memory cards, the Joy-Con controllers will attach to the console magnetically, the SL and SR buttons on the new controllers will be larger, and the right one will also feature a “C” button, the purpose of which is still unknown.
The presentation will reportedly focus entirely on the gaming device and its capabilities, with Nintendo revealing the games for the new console later.
