Italian Programmers Release Long-Awaited Fantasy Game Kien

Gaming
A group of Italian programmers recently celebrated the release of their fantasy hack ‘n slasher game, Kien, for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) after a staggering 22-year wait. According to a feature in The Guardian, Kien holds the title for the most delayed game in history. The game's development first commenced in 2002 when a small team of Italian programmers established AgeOfGames, becoming the country's pioneer in GBA game production. By 2004, they had a completed game ready for release, but unfortunately, the title never made it to store shelves due to concerns from the initial publisher regarding financial risks. AMD has announced the development of a new texture compression method called NTBC (Neural Texture Block Compression), which uses artificial intelligence. AMD NTBC technology solves the problem through compression using neural networks - it is partially compatible with texture compression algorithms used today (Block Compression, BC). “It has been designed to be compatible with existing BC formats, namely BC1 and BC4, with a reduced footprint and can be used as a replacement for existing graphics processes. <..> We have shown that NTBC can achieve better compression ratios than standard BC for both approaches, while still generating textures of reasonable quality. However, there is a trade-off between quality and compression ratio for the aggressive and conservative approaches -...

Logitech G309 Wireless Gaming Mouse Introduced For $80

Gaming
Introduced is the Logitech G309 computer mouse, which can be used with an AA battery or without a battery if you have a Powerplay mouse pad. This is Logitech's first wireless mouse with a supercapacitor inside. The Logitech G309 is not the first gaming mouse to support wireless charging. You can recall the Razer Mamba HyperFlux and Mad Catz RAT Air models, which were released back in 2018. However, they differ from the Logitech G309 in that, in principle, they can only be charged from special proprietary charging mats. The new product from Logitech can also run on regular AA batteries (or rechargeable batteries). Together with them, the weight of the Logitech G309 is 89 grams. However, the batteries can be removed and the mouse will only operate on a supercapacitor powered by...
