Lenovo has published firmware for the yet-to-be-released Legion Go S portable console, thus confirming its existence even before the official announcement. The leak also revealed details about some of the characteristics of the upcoming new product.
Images of the Legion Go S shared with Windows Central show 18 buttons, including the standard ABXY buttons on the right, two RGB-backlit analog sticks, a D-pad, and a TrackPoint similar to those found on Lenovo laptops. The console also features dual front-facing speakers, rear vents, and two USB-C ports, both of which are located on the top edge of the device.
Initially, it was assumed that the new product would be equipped with a processor from the expected Ryzen Z2 series on the Zen 5 architecture. However, the latest rumors indicate that the Lenovo Legion Go S will receive a Ryzen Z2 processor, but it will belong to the Rembrandt series with Zen 3+ cores. In other words, it will be a less powerful processor compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme (used in the original Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally X) and its more modern Zen 4 cores.

At the same time, the Legion Go S console itself will be a simplified version of the original Legion Go. Renders of the new product confirm the absence of removable gamepads, and also hint at a more compact display.

The price tag, however, is not specified. But given that the regular Legion Go is offered for $472, it can be assumed that the recommended retail price of the Legion Go S will be up to $400.
The premiere is expected at CES 2024 in January 2025.
