Owlcat Games, a studio that not only develops but also recently publishes games, has issued a statement regarding the growing Stop Killing Games movement.

Stop Killing Games is against the practice of disabling digital products that users have already paid for. Amid the growing number of cases where various titles become unavailable due to server closures, more and more developers and players are speaking out in favor of preserving the video game heritage.

The petition has previously collected the required number of signatures. It has also been supported by many politicians, including Vice President of the European Parliament Nicolae Ștefănuță. At the same time, many large publishers have spoken out against the initiative.

Contrary to popular belief, Stop Killing Games does not require publishers to provide support forever, but only to keep games in a “relatively working state” (e.g. offline) for users who have paid for them.
