Sony Promises PS5 Pro Game Updates To Be Free

Gaming
The PS5 Pro console, officially announced the day before, unpleasantly surprised gamers with its price, but at least you won’t have to pay to update games for the more powerful version of the PS5. One of the key technologies of PlayStation 5 Pro is the Game Boost function, designed to optimize the performance of video games developed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. Thanks to this function, users will be able to enjoy improved image quality and increased resolution in a number of popular titles. So far, it is known that the first games to support this technology will include 13 popular titles: Alan Wake 2; Assassin’s Creed Shadows; Demon’s Souls; Dragon’s Dogma 2; Final Fantasy VII Rebirth; Gran Turismo 7; Hogwarts Legacy; Horizon Forbidden West; ...

Sony Announces New PlayStation Console Presentation

Gaming
Sony has shared plans for a "technical" presentation on September 10, literally the day after the Apple event. It will last only nine minutes, and its host will be none other than Mark Cerny, the architect of the latest consoles. Sony Interactive Entertainment did not specify what innovations in gaming technologies Cerny will talk about at the presentation, but the event is expected to announce the PS5 Pro - a more powerful version of the currently available PS5 console. Sony Interactive Entertainment is keeping the PS5 Pro a secret, but in a recent teaser for the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, a console design was noticed, which, according to insider billbil-kun, will be the more powerful version of the PS5. In particular, the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling...

Doom Launched on Volumetric Voxel Display

Gaming
Weta Workshop graphics engineer James Brown built a device in the shape of a ball that rotates and displays a flickering 3D image. The enthusiast was able to run Doom on it. This isn't classic Doom, but a variant called Voxel Doom, where each point of the game object is assigned a position in 3D space, just like the points of a custom-built volumetric display. The display isn't actually 3D—it's an illusion. "It's like a holographic fan, but instead of spinning a 1D strip to create a 2D image, it spins a 2D panel to produce a 3D image," explains James Brown. https://youtu.be/na7pvihXhYs Brown initially aimed for a rotation speed of 300 rpm to produce a smooth image, but found that higher speeds were needed to achieve the desired clarity, especially when filming.

Bethesda Congratulates the Starfield Community On The Game’s Anniversary And Talks About DLC Shattered Space Updates

Gaming
September 6, 2024 marks Starfield's one-year anniversary. To mark the occasion, Bethesda has decided to reach out to the community. The Starfield team thanked players and also reminded them of the Shattered Space expansion: "Thank you to the millions of players who have made Settled Systems their home, you've made this an incredible first year for Starfield.” Bethesda assured that Starfield users will find much more interesting things (they didn't specify what exactly), starting with the first story add-on to the game, Shattered Space, which will be released on September 30. The developers also briefly told what to expect from the future add-on: more than 50 locations on a new planet (Va'ruun'kai); new (nasty, according to the developers) grenades made of organic material...
