Sony Shuts Down Concord Developers

Sony has decided to close Firewalk Studios, the developer of the infamous multiplayer game Concord. PlayStation studio business group CEO Herman Hulst announced this in a letter to employees. Along with Firewalk, mobile games studio Neon Koi will also close.

Let’s recall that on August 23, Firewalk released Concord on PC and PS5. The game did not attract enough attention from players, and just two weeks later Sony shut down the project’s servers and refunded all buyers. At that time, Concord still had a chance to be relaunched, but, as SIE co-head Hermen Hulst now reports, “after much deliberation” it was decided to finally bury the game, and at the same time close the studio.

Well-known insider Jason Schreier reported that 172 people lost their jobs due to the studio’s closure. But we can expect Sony to transfer many developers from Firewalk Studios to other internal studios.
