Ubisoft Tells About Stealth Mechanics And Innovations In “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”: New Gameplay

The developers of Assassin’s Creed Shadows shared details about the stealth mechanics in the game, which were seriously reworked compared to previous parts of the series. Ubisoft also published several short gameplay videos.

According to the creators of Shadows, stealth in a number of key areas has been reworked. For example, the eagle guide has been abandoned. The “Observation” mechanic has appeared to mark enemies and highlight caches, collectibles and quest objectives.

Among Naoe’s capabilities, the developers highlight:

  • the option to hide in the shadows (for the first time in the series);
  • extremely quiet (and rather slow) movement while crouching;
  • the ability to move by crawling (also for the first time in the series, also available to Yasuke);
  • four main tools – a smoke bomb, shinobi bells (to distract enemies), kunai and shuriken;
  • small dimensions allow Naoe to squeeze through cracks in walls, hide in small storage rooms and boxes;
  • the double kill mechanic will return – it is carried out with the help of a special skill (you must first unlock it) when using a hidden blade and tanto;
  • While undetected, Naoe can grab and drag an enemy in any direction to stealthily eliminate or disable them.

The game will be released on February 14, 2025 on PC and consoles. Earlier, Ubisoft reported that they had prepared a series of articles about gameplay mechanics.
