The developers of the ambitious shooter Doom: The Dark Ages from id Software shared new details about the game in the recently released April issue of Edge magazine.
The new DOOM is said to feature the largest locations in the series’ long history. Some of them will be so huge that players may confuse The Dark Ages with classic open-world games. But overall, the linear structure will remain. And on average, players will spend about an hour on each level.

The story will be told not through notes, but through classic staged cutscenes. In DOOM: The Dark Ages, the authors will abandon science fiction in favor of a more down-to-earth atmosphere.
The Doom Slayer’s shield will have a chainsaw mode. It will also allow you to quickly move around locations, thus replacing the double jump from previous parts. Close combat will change. The hero can not only attack, but also defend himself by parrying blows.

Doom: The Dark Ages is coming to PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass on May 15. It promises levels full of secrets, difficulty modifiers, and a dynamic soundtrack.
