Developers from the Danish studio IO Interactive (Hitman series) announced the forced postponement of the release of their ambitious spy action game 007 First Light about a young James Bond.

As a reminder, 007 First Light was fully unveiled in June and was slated for a 2026 release. During the September State of Play special, the exact release date was revealed: March 27.

As it turns out, 007 First Light will be delayed by two months, to May 27, 2026. This decision was driven by IO Interactive’s commitment to achieving the level of quality players deserve from launch.

The reason for the delay isn’t particularly original—the developers claim the game is already playable from start to finish, but they need a little more time for pre-release polishing and optimization to ensure a smooth launch and high-quality product at launch.

007 First Light is being developed for PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X, S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It promises a reimagining of the origin story of James Bond, with the pursuit of the elusive renegade agent.
