The recently released browser version of the cult open-world crime action game GTA: Vice City from Dos.Zone Team has attracted the attention of franchise rights holder Take-Two Interactive.

According to the document sent through EBRAND, the copyright holder’s claims relate to the use of the game’s name, logos, visual materials, and the game logic itself in a browser-based format, which, according to Take-Two, may facilitate the circumvention of technological protection measures and violate copyright and trademark law.

The order requires DosZone to shut down the site and remove all content related to GTA and other Take-Two projects, and the developers have already fulfilled the key demand: when attempting to access the Vice City browser page, a message is now displayed stating that the game was removed in response to a DMCA request from the copyright holder.

GTA: Vice City was released in 2002 on PS2 and came to PC and Xbox in 2003. In 2021, the game was remastered as part of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition collection for PC, consoles, and mobile devices.
