On December 26, the first gameplay trailer for the first-person shooter The Defiant, which is being developed in China by Hoothanes Studio, was released. The video went viral almost immediately.

The Defiant will tell the story of the Sino-Japanese War, four years after its outbreak, which became part of World War II. Players will experience “heroic deeds on the Chinese battlefield.”

The Defiant will cast players in the role of a fighter in the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, a Manchurian guerrilla force fighting against the Japanese occupation.

Hoothanes’ six-minute gameplay trailer for The Defiant showcases intense firefights across the snowy slopes of the Taihang Mountains, fire-torn military bases, and enemy-filled rooms.

The project already has a page on Steam, but the exact release date and the full list of platforms on which it will be available remain unknown.
