Mega Crit’s card roguelike Slay the Spire 2 recently launched in Steam Early Access. This ambitious sequel already has plenty to offer, even compared to Bungie’s evacuation shooter Marathon.
Within the first hours of its release, the sequel’s peak online player count on Steam surpassed 175,000. This was more than enough to make Slay the Spire 2 the most popular roguelike on Valve’s store by concurrent players. Until yesterday, Mewgenics held the lead in this category (115,000 peak players), and before that, Hades II (112,000).
However, Slay the Spire 2 didn’t stop there, and its concurrent player count continued to grow, reaching 282,000 players. The first Slay the Spire only reached 57,000 players. When it launched in 2017, it had just 193 peak players, as the developers at Mega Crit recalled.
In Slay the Spire 2, the Spire has once again opened its gates, ready to engulf anyone who dares to reach its summit. Both familiar and new heroes will help you conquer the Spire. You can embark on your journey alone or in a team of up to four players. Additional multiplayer maps have been prepared for co-op play, allowing you to take advantage of each team member’s strengths. As for the content for the second game, Mega Crit has already prepared more content than for the first Slay the Spire. The title will continue to be improved and expanded during Early Access.
