Yesterday, on July 7th, DOOM: The Dark Ages received the Revelations expansion pack. Steam users warmly welcomed the new content.
At the time of writing, the add-on has garnered 378 gamer reviews, and the majority (87%) are positive.
Customers praise the game’s evolving gameplay, the abundance of content, and the availability of full Russian localization (Steam only lists English as supported). “It doesn’t even feel like DLC. It feels like a full-fledged sequel,” admits Jill Valentine.
Negative reviews lament the game’s design and increased complexity. Positive reviews also lament the layoffs that rocked id Software and criticize Xbox management.
According to unofficial reports, the largest restructuring in Xbox history resulted in the layoff of half of id Software’s employees (95 people), including almost all of the programmers and specialists working on the idTech engine.

The plot follows a gravely wounded Executioner who finds himself in a prison within his own mind, where he must uncover terrifying secrets, regain his former strength, and defeat the fiend of the gods to open the path to freedom for his followers.
Revelations is available on PC (Steam, Battle.net), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The add-on is sold separately and as part of the premium edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages. The only supported language for the new game is English.
