It’s been half a month since the beginning of 2025, and there’s still no promised new patch or development plan for the post-apocalyptic shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. GSC Game World has commented on the growing discontent of fans.
When players on Reddit started complaining about the lack of news, community manager GSC Game World reassured them. He assured that work was underway, and another hotfix should be released soon, which, in particular, will deal with crashes during shader compilation. And by the end of winter, the developers want to release a larger update.
As for the dates, the GSC Game World representative did not dare to name them. He also tried to explain why the developers do not publish a long-term plan for the release of their updates.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was released on November 20, 2024 on PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store, EGS), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Sales in two days after the release exceeded 1 million copies – according to the co-owner of GSC, the game has already paid for itself.
