PUBG: Battlegrounds developer Krafton shared a sneak peek of its next project, originally called Project ARC, late last year, and has now confirmed that the new game, due out later this year, will be called PUBG: Blindspot.
PUBG: Blindspot is a top-down, five-on-five battle: the attacking squad must hack a Crypt hidden in a building by installing a decoder on it, while the defenders must prevent this. Defenders can block doors and build obstacles, while attackers can break down walls and fortifications using grenade launchers and explosive hammers. Almost like in another tactical PvP shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
These types of lightweight top-down games have seen something of a boom in recent years, with the rise of portable consoles like the Asus ROG Ally X and Valve’s Steam Deck. However, it remains to be seen whether Krafton and The PUBG Corporation will allow Steam Deck gamers to play PUBG: Blindspot, as the original PUBG’s anti-cheat disabled Linux gamers some time ago.
