Open Testing Of Ardenfall Started On Steam: Fantasy RPG

Credit: Spellcast Studios

The developers of the indie game Ardenfall, inspired by The Elder Scrolls series, have launched open testing on Steam. The five-person team at Spellcast Studios invites players to immerse themselves in a classic role-playing adventure in a unique setting.

Ardenfall takes place in the compact, open-world island of Ardenfall, where decisions matter, every action has consequences, and NPCs remember the choices the player makes.

In Ardenfall, the player is left to their own devices—there’s no guide. To understand what’s happening, you’ll need to read journals, ask questions, and regularly exercise curiosity.

Ardenfall’s dynamic combat system allows you to combine traditional weapons with magic, summon monsters, throw potions mid-battle, or, for example, fly away from trouble with a levitation spell.

So far, the creators have completed the first location, several quests, a dungeon, various weapons, magic, and a system for summoning assistants. They still have a lot of work ahead. After testing, the team will release a public demo. Early access will open sometime in early 2026. The full release date is still unknown.
