Sony Announces Release Date and Shows Trailer for Ghost of Yōtei

Sony has announced that the Ghost of Yōtei video game, a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, will be coming to PS5 on October 2. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer that showed dramatic samurai scenes, as well as brief scenes of bloody battles and horseback riding through picturesque landscapes.

Ghost of Yotei takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, on the island of Hokkaido in the area of Mount Yotei. Players will take on the role of a new ghost, a wandering warrior named Atsu. The Ghost of Yotei story trailer that accompanied the announcement reveals the game’s premise. A group of bandits killed Atsu’s family and left the girl for dead. The heroine survived and, having grown up, set out to track down the killers and take revenge on them.

The three-minute video showcases picturesque landscapes, Atsu’s future allies, several types of weapons, and a new gameplay mechanic – the ability to immerse yourself in the heroine’s memories.

Ghost of Yōtei is one of a handful of major exclusives planned for the PS5 this year, following the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on June 26.
