Sony Interactive Entertainment has posted a vacancy for a senior director of multiplatform and partner commerce in the PlayStation Studios division. Judging by the description, PlayStation is preparing to significantly expand the presence of its titles beyond its own consoles – including releasing games on PC, Xbox consoles, Nintendo and mobile devices. All of these are directly mentioned in the official announcement of the search for an employee.

The gaming industry has changed. Sony’s PlayStation division has been signaling to investors for some time that it intends to improve its financial performance, including margins, and expanding software sales is a surefire way to succeed. Gamers are not very inclined to switch their favorite platforms, and the Japanese company could well make money by bringing some of its older games to Xbox. Tens of millions of active players in this camp are still unfamiliar with titles like Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and others, and they could get a new lease on life here.

Until recently, the company had stuck to the rule of “story exclusives first on PlayStation 5, and service exclusives immediately on PlayStation 5 and PC,” but now support for Xbox Series X|S has suddenly been added to the formula, and LEGO Horizon Adventures was released on Nintendo Switch last year.
