Following rumors that Bioshock 4 was being scrapped, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick cleared the air in an interview with IGN. Zelnick stated that the game would definitely be released despite the development issues.
“It’s coming. I say that with my hand on my heart. There’s no doubt about it,” Zelnick assured IGN when asked about the threat of BioShock 4’s cancellation. The executive also confirmed that the development was accompanied by “ups and downs.” Zelnick emphasized that the team faces a difficult task: “The game has to preserve the spirit of BioShock and be a huge step forward for the series. That’s always a challenge. We’re up for the challenge, but it wasn’t without its challenges.”

Zelnick also outlined his vision of the problems of the gaming industry when developing AAA projects. He believes that every year players are becoming more demanding of quality, so studios under the wing of Take-Two cannot be satisfied with releasing “just good games”, since there are many such products on the market now.
