Independent Polish enthusiasts from The Chronicles of Myrtana Team have announced the release date for the expanded edition of their global mod, “The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos,” for Gothic II. According to the published teaser, “Archolos 2.0” will launch next year as a global update.
Version 2.0 will include an optional hardcore mode, new locations, storylines, quests, random events and minigames, and over a million combinations of customization items.
Among other things, the modders of the Mod of The Decade Edition are preparing reworked locations and enemies, gameplay improvements and fixes, balance adjustments, and “many surprises.”
The story centers on the once-thriving city of Archolos in the kingdom of Myrtana, which finds itself on the brink of crisis. The mod offers a multi-layered plot, over 170 quests, 200 random events, and professional voice acting.
Archolos was released at the end of 2021, winning over Gothic fans. Essentially, it’s not just a run-of-the-mill mod, but an entire fan-made game, taking over 40 hours to complete. Since its launch, Archolos has garnered over 16,000 “extremely positive” reviews on Steam—a 98% approval rating.
