There’s been talk for some time that MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is returning to its roots. Studio head Jerk Gustafsson previously confirmed the team’s desire to continue the legendary series. Now, the first casting details have leaked online, not only confirming active development but also shedding light on the plot of the long-awaited Wolfenstein 3.

Voice and motion capture director Tom Keegan and casting director Emily Schweber are involved in the casting process. Both worked on MachineGames’ previous Wolfenstein games.

According to MP1st, Wolfenstein 3 will feature a new character: an orphan named Sofia, aged between eight and eleven, who joins the resistance with her dog, Ralph, and begins to blossom again.

Sophia will reportedly accompany BJ Blazkowicz on his journeys and eventually warm up to him. MP1st speculates that the dynamic between the characters could be reminiscent of Joel and Ellie’s relationship in The Last of Us.

Motion capture and acting recording for Wolfenstein 3 is scheduled to begin in April and continue into 2027. According to MP1st, the threequel has become MachineGames’ main project since Indiana Jones, but its release is still a long way off.

Interestingly, alongside the development of the third game, a television adaptation of the Wolfenstein franchise is rumored to be in the works for Prime Video. Bethesda is expected to attempt to release the series and the game around the same time.
