“The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” Remake Scheduled For Release In Mid-January 2026

It looks like the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will be released very soon—in mid-January 2026. At least, that’s the release date given by sources to Tom Henderson, editor-in-chief of Insider Gaming. The journalist shared this information on the website’s podcast.

The original game’s developers, Ubisoft Montreal, are responsible for producing the reimagining of The Sands of Time. Since last summer, they’ve been assisted by another Canadian Ubisoft studio, Ubisoft Toronto (Far Cry 6, Splinter Cell remake).

The lack of new footage remains the biggest question surrounding the remake. Ubisoft hasn’t shown anything from the Montreal release beyond minor updates, and the shift from complete silence to a three-month launch window is bold. Perhaps the company is waiting for a controlled reveal at the December Game Awards, where a finished piece of gameplay would signal that the project is finally ready. Last year’s short teaser—a lone candle in a dark room—brought no clarity, only irritation, and this time the publisher will need a more powerful presentation to prove that its efforts to revive the project have been successful.

After several release delays, Sands returned to the original’s birthplace—Ubisoft Montréal. The Canadians restarted development, resulting in the game, which was supposed to be released in January 2021, being delayed by several years.
