New Gameplay Demo Of ‘007 First Light’ Delighted Players With Its Performance

Ahead of the project’s imminent release, IO Interactive hosted a gameplay demo of the PS5 Pro version of 007 First Light, promising stable performance at launch.

“In September, they talked about 007 frames… We’re excited to show off 007 First Light running at 60 fps on PS5 Pro,” the developers’ announcement read.

According to the developers, the game runs at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation Pro. Visually, the image has become noticeably cleaner—the developers cite improved image stability and a reduction in visual artifacts seen in earlier demos.

Owners of the standard PlayStation 5 also have nothing to worry about. The base console offers two modes: one that prioritizes frame rate (60 FPS) and one that prioritizes image quality (30 FPS). The developers are keeping the exact resolution settings under wraps for now.

IO Interactive itself calls the PS5 Pro configuration the benchmark for playing 007: First Light on consoles, although high-performance computers will allow for even higher graphics settings. The team believes that owners of Sony’s updated console are already guaranteed an experience as close to what the developers envisioned.

This is also important because the project’s initial demonstrations provoked skepticism among players, who even dubbed it “007 FPS”—a playful reference to concerns about frame rate stability. With these videos, the Danes aim to prove that the game reliably maintains its target frame rate on the more powerful console version.

007 First Light will be available on May 27 for PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X, S, and Nintendo Switch 2, starting at $70. Last week, the developers released expanded system requirements for the game.
