Yellow paint is a well-known meme among gamers. The noticeable color helps developers highlight key points and objects for interaction, but many consider this approach outdated. There is yellow paint in Assassin’s Creed Shadows — the creative director of the action RPG explained the addition of such hints.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows creative director Jonathan Dumont told GamesRadar that the pseudo-historical open-world action RPG didn’t have a yellow coat of paint until playtesting. According to Dumont, many of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ testers couldn’t figure out which cliffs were climbable — either walking past interactable ones or banging their heads against inaccessible ones.

“Playtesters had a hard time finding their way forward when going through hidden paths. The environment is so lush and detailed that a small amount of cues was necessary,” Dumont said.

Let us recall that Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released on March 20. Since then, over three million players have managed to get acquainted with the new product. By the way, the developers will move to a new division of Ubisoft.
