Publisher Wales Interactive and developer Peacebreak Studio announced that the turn-based tactical RPG Beaten Path will release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The project will be funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which will help the developers complete the game’s production.

Beaten Path tells the story of Panna and her companions, who set out to explore the mysteries of time and battle mythical forces.

Battles unfold on checkered maps, inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem.

The ability to customize each fighter on the team through a flexible system of professions, powerful skills, unique features, and other parameters is also announced.

Travel across a “richly illustrated” world map with dynamic weather, unusual landmarks, and a wealth of story-driven events is promised. “From sunken temples to storm-battered shores, each location conceals tales, choices, and challenges that shape your journey,” the creators explain.

While the exact release date for Beaten Path hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s scheduled for 2027 on current-generation Nintendo consoles, PlayStation, and Xbox, as well as PC. Judging by the initial details, Peacebreak Studio is embracing a blend of classic tactical RPG and a large-scale adventure, featuring exploration, character development, and non-linear storytelling.
