A new 40-minute gameplay video for EXODUS is giving players a closer look at the upcoming science-fiction RPG developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by industry veterans, including former BioWare developers. The footage, released on October 28, focuses on a mission called “Liberating the Kay” and has sparked fresh discussion among fans of story-driven space adventures.
A Mission Filled with Combat and Difficult Choices
The gameplay demonstration follows protagonist Jun Aslan as he seeks help from Suliman Tenjin, the leader of the powerful Tenjin Dynasty. In exchange for assistance, Jun must help fight Gideon Aslan’s forces for control of Khonsu, an orbital space station that has protected the protagonist’s homeworld for generations.
The footage combines exploration, dialogue and action sequences, offering a more detailed look at how the game balances cinematic storytelling with third-person combat. Players can also see how decisions influence Jun’s journey, including choices tied to two distinct paths: Paladin, which emphasizes virtue, and Immortal, which focuses on ambition.
These alignments affect character progression and how the world responds to the protagonist, adding another layer to the role-playing experience.
A Spiritual Successor to Mass Effect?
Interest in EXODUS has grown partly because of its development team’s background. Archetype Entertainment includes veterans of BioWare and other major studios, with Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic writer Drew Karpyshyn among the project’s creative talent.
The game follows humanity across a distant region of space, combining ancient alien technology, dangerous worlds and companions with their own motivations. Its emphasis on player agency and narrative consequences has drawn comparisons with BioWare’s best-known RPGs.
However, EXODUS is building its own universe rather than continuing an existing franchise. Whether it can deliver the same memorable characters and storytelling remains to be seen.
EXODUS Release Date and Platforms
EXODUS is scheduled to launch on April 7, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
