Developers Goldhawk Interactive and publisher Hooded Horse have announced the full release date for the turn-based strategy game Xenonauts 2. The event will take place on April 2, 2026, and the game will be available for purchase on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
Xenonauts 2 takes place in a universe where the Cold War on Earth hasn’t ended, but an alien invasion has occurred. Players must build bases, research alien technology, and engage in tactical battles.
Xenonauts 2 offers an extensive single-player experience, a deep combat system, a variety of locations and missions, a day/night cycle, destructible environments, consequences for decisions.
The developers highlight the following notable changes:
- A completely redesigned aerial combat system.
- Improved tutorial and expanded campaign opening featuring The Cleaners faction—an alien militia opposing the player.
- New alien types, ground forces, larger UFOs, and additional weapons.
- A full campaign finale with the ability to retaliate against the alien enemy and final cutscenes.
- New strategic-level mechanics—followers, operations, and reworked invasion phases.
- Additional maps, biomes, and mission types.
- New 3D models, animations, and visual elements.
- Numerous balance changes, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.
