American-French modder Dryxio (DryxioGTA), who launched GTA III and GTA: Vice City on a TV inside GTA: San Andreas, has amazed fans with an ambitious new experiment with the classic trilogy.
In the latest demonstration, portals are located in the Grove Street area of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Entering one portal instantly transports the player to Liberty City and places them in control of Claude from Grand Theft Auto III, while the other portal leads to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where control shifts to Tommy Vercetti.
This project is a continuation of a previously reported experiment. In that experiment, Dryxio was able to display Grand Theft Auto III on a working TV screen inside Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with both games remaining fully playable simultaneously. The modder later went even further, running Grand Theft Auto: Vice City inside Grand Theft Auto III, which in turn was already running inside Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
However, portals aren’t just for traveling between worlds. The published video shows a player shooting through a portal, hitting NPCs located in the other game. Essentially, the technology combines three separate Rockstar Games titles into a single gaming space—something that will likely never be officially released. It’s still unknown how far this integration will go.
For now, the GTA multiverse exists only as a proof-of-concept. It’s unclear whether Dryxio will release a corresponding public modification. A previous project is available on the enthusiast’s website.
