Amazon Game Studios has apparently delayed the release of Tomb Raider Catalyst to 2028.
The new release date was revealed by Amazon Games CEO Jeffrey Gattis in an interview with The Game Business, dedicated to the launch of the cloud gaming service Amazon Luna.
As a reminder, Tomb Raider: Catalyst was unveiled at The Game Awards 2025 along with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (another remake of the original Tomb Raider) and was officially announced for 2027.
Amazon’s head of gaming, Jeffrey Gattis, in an interview with The Game Business, stated that Tomb Raider: Catalyst will not be released on schedule: “Atlantis is coming out on February 12th of next year, and [Catalyst] will follow in 2028.”
“We have nothing new to announce regarding the Catalyst timeline. Development is progressing well, and we can’t wait to share more,” an Amazon Games representative said in response to Gematsu’s request for comment.
The events of Tomb Raider: Catalyst are set in motion by a mythical cataclysm that unleashes ancient secrets and the mysterious forces that guard them. In pursuit of the truth, Lara Croft journeys to the mountain peaks of Northern India.
Players will explore a secret-filled world and forgotten tombs, solve intricate puzzles, and decide who to trust to prevent catastrophe and protect a secret that could change the future.
Tomb Raider Catalyst will be one of Amazon’s key projects in the development of the renowned franchise. However, fans of the series will now have to wait even longer before they can see Lara Croft’s new adventure following the reboot of the Survivor era.
