Valve shared new information about its Steam Machine console. Among other things, it pleased owners and potential buyers with the news that the device now supports the FSR 4.1 upscaler.

Valve expects that everyone who currently pre-orders a Steam Machine will receive an email with the option to purchase by the end of 2026. This announcement does not apply to those on the waitlist. Furthermore, the company does not guarantee delivery of the mini PC by the end of the year. Those who have already pre-ordered a Steam Machine will have 72 hours to complete their purchase after receiving the email.

Pre-order queues and waitlists are separated by product configuration and region. They may advance at different rates depending on demand. Some customers have already received a Steam Machine, allowing Valve to replenish the pre-order queue with users on the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis. However, those on the waitlist will not be able to jump ahead of those already in the pre-order queue. Waitlisted users will first receive a confirmation email from Valve about being added to the pre-order queue, and only after a short delay will they receive an email to complete their purchase.

The company also announced that support for the AMD FSR 4.1 technology stack is now available for Steam Machine. The software is supported through the Proton Experimental shell for games that support the FSR 4.1 update. Steam Machine uses a GPU based on the RDNA 3 architecture, making the new upscaler available without requiring a native Linux version for each supported game.
