CD Projekt RED has released another free update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. The Polish developers continue to refine this action RPG on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

The patch introduced a number of graphical improvements, including refinements to the glow effects and tone mapping—which players had complained about—as well as character lighting, ray tracing, and path tracing.

On PC, fixes were implemented for issues where the GTAO quality setting reset after restarting the game, ability tooltips failed to update, the game selected the wrong graphics card, and DLSS/XeSS activated on unsupported GPUs.

On consoles, settings for bloom, light shafts, and depth of field were added; various performance improvements were introduced; and incorrect frame rate limits in graphics modes on PS5 were fixed.

What else was improved and fixed in patch 5.01:

  • Player-controlled boats will no longer move uncontrollably or clip through surfaces;
  • Ladder interaction animations have been refined;
  • Geralt will no longer collide with the bodies of defeated enemies after finishing them off with the Aard Sign;
  • Vesemir will stop repeating the same line of dialogue when the Quen Sign is used repeatedly;
  • Dodging will trigger without delay;
  • Damage reflection has been added to the “Exploding Shield” skill;
  • Vegetation will now react correctly to collisions;
  • Items from the “My Rewards” program and Roach gear from Twitch Drops/Bilibili Drops will now correctly appear (potentially even in duplicate) in the chest in Vizima;
  • Dynamic resolution will no longer cause visual artifacts on certain configurations;
  • Measures have been added to recover corrupted save files;
  • The “You earned a skill point!” message will no longer remain on screen longer than intended.

Special attention in the upcoming update will be paid to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. The developers aim to achieve greater consistency across all versions of the game by improving aspects such as image clarity and detail.
