During San Diego Comic-Con, the team from Sony and Santa Monica Studio announced the release date for God of War Laufey. You’ll be able to immerse yourself in Faye’s adventure in the afterlife on February 16, 2027. There’s also news about a game that will once again star Kratos.
God of War Laufey takes place in the afterlife of the gods, Everywhen, where Faye, the wife of the aggressive Spartan Kratos and mother of Atreus from the Norse saga God of War, finds herself after death.
In the story, Faye discovers that her plans to protect Kratos and Atreus are in jeopardy. To save them, the heroine must fight her way through Everywhen, a world torn apart by a war for power between ruthless gods from different mythologies.
Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog also confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 that the next game in the Laufey series after God of War will be a game starring Kratos. It will be directly connected to Laufey.
God of War Laufey is in development for PlayStation 5. Sony Santa Monica creative director Cory Barlog also confirmed that another God of War game will follow Laufey. The project will be a direct sequel to Laufey and will be closely tied to its plot, with Kratos once again serving as the protagonist.
