At a presentation celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Diablo series, American publisher and developer Blizzard Entertainment shared several important pieces of news about Diablo II: Resurrected, a remaster of the legendary 2000 action RPG.

First up, the studio unveiled the game’s first new expansion since Lord of Destruction (2001)—Reign of the Warlock. The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic and gameplay trailer.

The expansion isn’t just a new class, but a complete overhaul of the gameplay experience, designed for both Sanctuary veterans and those returning years later.

The main new addition is the Warlock, who utilizes three branches of forbidden magic. In the Demon Lord branch, players subjugate hellish creatures and form an army of servants. The Adept of Otherworldly Forces allows players to transform weapons into instruments of pure destruction. The Chaos Lord unlocks powerful ranged attacks powered by fire, shadow, and the power of Hell. The class is designed to accommodate a variety of builds—aggressive, tactical, and battlefield control-oriented.

Reign of the Warlock also expands the endgame. New unique items, sets, and runewords have been added, opening up possibilities for even more powerful builds. The introduction of the Chronicle allows players to track all acquired items on their account, encouraging experimentation and collecting—a solution for players who enjoy character optimization.

The expansion is now available for all Diablo II: Resurrected platforms—PC (Battle.net), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. It costs $25.

Additionally, Diablo II: Resurrected — Infernal Edition ($40), which includes Reign of the Warlock, was released. The new bundle debuted on the platforms listed above, as well as on Steam.

Finally, following the announcement of Reign of the Warlock, Diablo II: Resurrected has become part of Game Pass (Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass) on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and S. The service’s official blog announced the news.
