NetherRealm Studios announced that sales of the fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 have exceeded 8 million copies. The news was announced in a recent post on the developers’ microblog, in which they thanked gamers for their support.
This, of course, applies to all current platforms and available versions, including the full version of the game, Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, which was released in May 2025.
The developers thanked players for their support. Support for Mortal Kombat 1 officially ended almost a year ago. As of August 2025, the fighting game had sold over 6 million copies.
As a reminder, Mortal Kombat 1 was originally scheduled to release in September 2023.
Mortal Kombat 2 will premiere on May 8th. A new trailer was recently released. The film stars Karl Urban, Tati Gabrielle, Martin Ford, Hiroyuki Sanada, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, and others.
