Cloud Imperium Games has launched a Steam page for its long-in-development title “Squadron 42”, the single-player spin-off of “Star Citizen”. The developers have also released a cinematic trailer featuring an all-star cast.

The events of Squadron 42 take place in 2945, as the United Empire of Earth (UEE) teeters on the brink of collapse due to threats from outlaws and hostile alien forces lurking in the darkest corners of space.

As a recruit in the UEE military, players will live and work alongside a crew aboard a massive ship, make difficult decisions, and embark on a perilous journey into the heart of a galactic war.

The new official trailer for Squadron 42 (attached above) showcases an alien threat, space action, combat, location exploration, puzzles, and a star-studded cast.

Along with the new trailer, Squadron 42 has received a page on the Steam digital distribution service. There is no mention of Russian language support, but there are 15 new screenshots.

In August, CIG head Chris Roberts warned that the launch of “Squadron 42” had been pushed back from 2026 to avoid clashing with “GTA VI”. Meanwhile, the game’s Steam page lists the second quarter of 2027 as the release window.
