Released today, April 28, the massive Lord of Hatred expansion for Blizzard Entertainment’s fantasy action RPG Diablo IV has earned high praise from critics, but Steam users have been less enthusiastic.
Critics have previously praised Lord of Hatred, but gamers have so far been lukewarm. They note the game’s interesting innovations and praise the two new classes, but are dissatisfied with technical issues and queues upon release. However, this is typical for a service-based game and is not surprising. Some of these issues have already been resolved, and others will be addressed soon.
As a reminder, Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred introduces a new storyline set in the uncharted region of Skovos, once home to Lilith and Inarius and now under the rule of the Oracle Queen and the Amazon Queen. But most importantly, it adds two classes: the Paladin returns, and the Warlock, who recently debuted in the series in the Diablo II: Resurrected expansion. The central event of the new expansion is the return of the Lord of Hatred, Mephisto, who has abandoned his wolf form and transformed into a colossal demon in an attempt to subjugate all of Centuria.
With the release of Lord of Hatred, Diablo IV’s 13th season, Season of Reckoning, has begun. It includes skill tree updates, a level cap increase to 70, a loot filter, map overlay features, and much more.
