
Two reliable insiders at once – Jez Corden from Windows Central and eXtas1s – report that a new game based on a “legendary Japanese IP” will be presented at the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct.
Officially, the announcement of the secret project within Developer_Direct will take viewers on a journey to an “unexpected location” and offer a glimpse of a brand new game from the mysterious studio.
Users of the ResetEra forum have already joined forces to figure out the mysterious legendary Japanese franchise that will appear on Developer_Direct. There are several suspects:
- Dino Crisis – fans have been begging Capcom for a new part / remake for years;
- Dragon Quest – a new numbered game is officially in development;
- Ecco the Dolphin – in December, Sega applied to register new trademarks related to the series in Japan;
- Final Fantasy – the third episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake is in the works, and the first two are being prepared for release on Xbox;
- Ninja Gaiden – AAA Studio, owned by Koei Tecmo (the owner of the franchise), promised to announce its first game in 2025;
- Persona – a full-fledged sixth part is rumored to be in development;
- Resident Evil – a new numbered game is officially in development;
- Tales – the series turns 30 in 2025.
The new Developer_Direct presentation will take place on January 23rd, where they will show off the “most anticipated games” of this year.
