Publisher Kasedo Games and developers Bulwark Studios (Ixion) of France have finally announced the release date of their ambitious turn-based tactics game Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 has been announced to launch on May 21 for PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, and Xbox Series X and S. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay overview trailer featuring the Adeptus Mechanicus and Necron faction leaders.
One of the game’s key features will be two full-fledged story campaigns for different sides of the conflict. Players will be able to choose between the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons—each faction will have a unique combat style, mechanics, and troop rosters.
Battles will once again feature turn-based tactics, but the developers promise expanded opportunities for environmental interaction. The Mechanicus will be able to exploit cover and terrain features, while the Necrons will be able to destroy map elements and shape the battlefield to their liking.
In addition to tactical missions, the game will feature a global strategic map. Players will capture and hold territory, manage resources, and develop garrisons. Each side will be able to customize their commanders: upgrade Mechanicus tech-priests or assemble their own court of Necron nobility.
According to the plot, after a millennia of slumber, Vargard Nefershah mobilizes the legions of his dynasty to crush the alien Adeptus Mechanicus, while on the other side of the galaxy, Magos Dominus Faustinius is called upon to aid in the fight against the Necrons.
