Borderlands 4 Delay Not Linked to GTA 6 Release Date

Yesterday’s postponement of the looter shooter Borderlands 4 has added fuel to the fire of rumors about the release dates of the crime action game GTA VI from Rockstar Games. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford commented on the situation.

In his X, he wrote that the decision to move the release date earlier was dictated solely by internal confidence in the quality of the game and the pace of development.

“The release of Borderlands 4 earlier than planned is 100% the result of our confidence in the project, the tasks and the pace of fixing bugs. And exactly 0% is a reaction to the releases of other games, real or hypothetical.”

Earlier it was reported that three major game publishers are ready to postpone the release of their projects to avoid competition with GTA VI: “Essentially, GTA VI is a huge meteorite, and we are trying not to get into the impact zone.”
