Publisher THQ Nordic and Barcelona studio Alkimia Interactive presented a new trailer and release date for the remake of the cult role-playing game Gothic from Piranha Bytes at the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025.

In the video, the authors of the remake of the first “Gothic” showed the necromancer Xardas – one of the magicians who created a magical barrier over the Valley of Mines, but also fell under its influence. Later, it was he who helped the main character deal with a powerful demon.

The release of the original Gothic took place in 2001. Work on an updated version of the game became known in 2020, but later the release was repeatedly postponed without a specific date.

As it became known, the remake of “Gothic” will be released in early 2026 (most likely in the first quarter) on PC (Steam, GOG), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Meanwhile, the demo version of “Prologue of Niras” has reached consoles.
