CD Projekt Red’s hotly anticipated open-world fantasy RPG The Witcher 4 was one of the highlights of The Game Awards 2024, but don’t expect the game to be featured at the upcoming awards.

CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski commented on The Witcher 4’s nomination for The Game Awards 2025 in the company’s latest financial report and separately on his microblog.

Nowakowski said he was thrilled to see The Witcher 4 in the “Most Anticipated Game” category: “Thank you to everyone who has already voted—your support means a lot to us.”

CD Projekt RED previously stated that the open-world RPG would not be released until 2027. It was also clarified that the tech demo does not represent the game itself, but merely a “first look at the cutting-edge technologies” used in its creation.

It has now been confirmed that the Unreal Engine Framework, MetaHuman, Smart Objects, Nanite Foliage, and other technologies will be used to create The Witcher 4’s game world. The studio recently hired Karel Kolman, previously a game designer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, as its new senior quest designer.

It was previously reported that The Witcher 4’s full-fledged advertising campaign would only begin once users were able to perform any actions with the game, such as pre-ordering or downloading something.
